RACE, IDENTITY, & NARRATIVE CRAFT IN WRITING

with DAVID MURA

IMBUE IDENTITY INTO YOUR STORIES

This lecture and discussion dives into narrative construction that can help your writing take off on a new level! The class will review how BIPOC writers approach race, ethnicity, and identity in creative writing, and then we'll explore how Western narrative principles/techniques can be used in fiction, non-fiction/memoir, and even playwriting. David Mura's curriculum is based on his book, A Stranger's Journey: Race, Identity & Narrative Craft in Writing, as well as excerpts by ZZ Packer, Gish Jen, Junot Diaz, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Garrett Hongo. The sooner you sign up, the more time you’ll have to read these handouts to get the most out of the class!

This class is designed for BIPOC artists 16+. The registration deadline is Feb 19 at 11:59 pm CT.
