WE BELONG
Theater Mu is creating a place for Asian American stories to be heard.
FROM ARTISTIC DIRECTOR FRAN DE LEON
There is no doubt that we have been navigating uncharted territory this last year. While the ground below us may feel unstable, Theater Mu’s roots, planted over three decades ago, have kept us steady and even more focused.
We have been here for 34 years, creating theater that is reflective of the true meaning of being American. We will continue to do so with heart, determination, and grace.
I invite you to make a gift to Theater Mu today, so that, together, we can move into the next decades in art and solidarity.
your DONATION MEANS
RADICAL INCLUSIVITY
We remove barriers for emerging Asian American artists with paid playwriting cohorts and fellowships.
We diversify the American theater canon through world premieres and workshops. As one audience member says, “It’s beautiful to be represented and celebrated.”
INTENTIONAL BELONGING
Our programming creates a space for people to come together and reflect. As one audience member says, “Not only was the show amazing, but feeling the community that was present there was healing.”
DETERMINED MENTORING
School residences, summer camp, and workplace development all lead to pride in identity. Students say, “I’m proud to tell people about my story.”
INNOVATIVE MODELS
Our Trifecta Fundraising Initiative is a community-driven campaign designed to support the arts, combat food instability, and bolster independent local businesses simultaneously. Our inaugural event, Oops, We Have Opinions! drove business to Urban Growler and collected more than 120 pounds of food donations for Keystone Community Services. It was a night to laugh, break bread, and engage together!
