art by Aleksandra Gurneau/KNOCK, inc.
MU’S LONGEST RUNNING TRADITION
Theater Mu's longstanding New Eyes Festival is an incubator for new Asian American voices, and we’re in the midst of putting together our 2027 call for submissions. Check back for more details!
Past readings have included a 10-Minute Play Festival centered around the question, “What does freedom mean to you?”; Maybe You Could Love Me by Samah Meghjee; Two Mile Hollow by Leah Nanako Winkler; Charles Francis Chan Jr.’s Exotic Oriental Murder Mystery by Lloyd Suh; Exotic Deadly by Keiko Green; and Half the Sky by Isabella Dawis and Tidtaya Sinutoke.
The New Eyes Festival is free to attend, and audiences can expect a staged reading of each play. A reading is a form of theater without sets or full costumes, and actors read from scripts and incorporate minimal stage movement.
