Meet office manager Sophina Jagot-Young

Hi everyone,
I'm Sophina (she/her), and I'm thrilled to be joining the Mu team as office manager. I'm British South Asian, and when I moved to North Minneapolis in 2025, I was so excited to discover such a vibrant theater and arts scene. I felt immediately aligned to Theater Mu's work.
For the last 22 years, I've worked across UK arts, culture, and nonprofits covering exec support, program management, DEI, and marketing, including running a four-year international arts programme connecting artists between Birmingham (UK), Pakistan, and Bangladesh. I deeply believe in compassionate leadership, enabling creatives, and building spaces and structures for people to thrive as their authentic selves.
I'm also a professional writer and spoken word artist, performing as Brwn Girl in the Ring. I'm currently editing my debut poetry collection exploring themes of anti-colonial healing, spirituality, mysticism, female-bodied pleasure and nature, and in 2024, I published an illustrated children's book and a neo-soul storytelling EP The Day the StarTribe Made a Magical Cake'
I trained in martials arts in my 20s and 30s (Taekwondo, Brazilian jiu jitsu, plus two months in the Fujian Province in China training in a martial arts school). What else can I share? I love music, travelling, food, sketching, and my most recent obsession is getting back on roller skates to relive my teenage years!
